The Social Networking Giant “Facebook” finally revealed that how many minutes you spend watching videos everyday on Facebook. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that every day Facebook users watch 100 Million hours of video on Facebook. Facebook’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg later said that about 500 million people watch video on Facebook daily.

On Wednesday, Facebook Spokesperson revealed that these numbers are based on plays from Facebook’s own Video Player. However, these numbers also represent people who watch videos over different sites like YouTube which are not included in their news feeds.
It seems that the minutes spent by Facebook users for watching videos is quite more, users spend about 12 minutes in watching videos on Facebook while as users spend nearly 40 minutes in watching videos on YouTube via Mobile Devices in average. However, you all might have noticed when you browse Facebook via Computer Browser or Mobile Apps, videos on Facebook automatically start playing. It seems that Facebook might have added these number too, that’s why the number is quite lot.
On Wednesday announcement by Zuckerberg for his plans on creating separate place for Facebook Videos’s because it has plans to make videos important part on its site and also to compete with its rival YouTube. On the other hand, Facebook has to maintain issues regarding copyright, because people are seeing downloading viral YouTube videos and uploading them on Facebook.
Facebook has failed to refrain users from plagiarism. Facebook has been badly criticized by Web’s Biggest Content Creators. They also slammed Facebook’s Algorithm which is giving importance to only Facebook Videos over shares from YouTube and other video sites. However, no information was provided by Facebook regarding the Facebook’s videos for Copyright violations.
So, this was all about the rapid growth of Facebook’s Video Player. However, Facebook is not doing enough to protect copyrighted videos. People are seen uploading viral copyrighted videos on Facebook without any issue. Facebook must take measures in order to protect video copyrights.
